JR STAR FAQ

My child is a non-swimmer. What does swim instruction look like at JR STAR?
Pool safety is our top priority at camp! Campers are put into small groups according to ability. Swim instructors are in the pool with them while their counselors are poolside. There are many eyes on the pool at camp! After a few weeks at camp all campers make significant progress.

What happens at extended day?
Extended day is supervised by our JR STAR counselors. After checking in at 3:00 p.m., campers have a choice of sport activities in the gym, outdoor playground, or  access to our indoor playroom. Our program has two options: 1 hour (pick up at 4:00 p.m.) or 2 hour (pick up at 5:00 p.m.). You can add extended day options in your Camp Brain cart when you register.

What snacks are provided?
Campers will have a mid-morning snack consisting of Goldfish, Pirate Booty, Nutri-Grain bar, or fruit snacks. All options are peanut-free. In the afternoon, campers will receive ice-pops!

Swim Instruction — Every camper will participate in an instructional swim time each day. Campers are tested every Monday and placed into a small group according to their current skill level. Campers will receive a progress report at the end of each week.

Gym Time — JR STAR Camp strongly believes that all children require physical activity during their day. Every camper will participate in gym time each day. Gym activities include gym games, obstacle courses, and much more!
