A Letter from MKA Head of School Thomas W. Nammack
At MKA we do not just educate, we empower. We deliver an innovative education that combines excellence in teaching, creativity in curriculum, and a highly personal, technology-enriched environment. As a result, our students have the capacity to think critically, the confidence to stretch, and the preparation required to meet the real world challenges ahead.
Welcome to Montclair Kimberley Academy and thank you for your interest in our school. I encourage you to thoroughly explore our website as an introduction to our award-winning and exceptional Pre-K-12 co-educational independent day school. If you want to learn more about attending MKA, please feel free to contact our Admissions Office - firstname.lastname@example.org.
MKA is a robust school community with over 1000 students on three campuses (Pre-K-3rd, 4th-8th, 9th-12th). We function as one school through a clearly articulated curriculum whose hallmarks include our unique and longstanding Pre-K-12 Signature Programs: the Culture of Ethics, The Writing Challenge, and The MKA Core, as well as a nationally recognized program for integrating technology in the curriculum. MKA was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2013-2015 and provides a 1:1 laptop learning environment for our students. At MKA, the work of our teachers and the lives of our students are shaped by our Mission Statement and the ideals of our motto, “Knowledge, Vision, Integrity.”
Founded in 1887, we are a school that promotes and honors hard work, creativity, civility and generosity of spirit. Our curriculum provides an extraordinary array of academic, artistic, athletic and leadership opportunities for students. We are a diverse, dynamic and cohesive community, and we continually strive to provide what is best for our students.
While over a third of our families live in Montclair, we draw students from eight counties and over seventy townships. Families and students choose MKA because it is a challenging and supportive college preparatory school that seeks to know and fulfill the potential of every young person. Our graduates attend many of the finest colleges and universities in the United States. They are always reporting back to us on the superb way that MKA has prepared them for college, graduate school, and life beyond.
Our teachers are coaches, advisors, mentors, artists, scholars and athletes. They have chosen MKA for the caliber of the student body, the quality of our programs, our positive partnership with parents, and an institutional commitment to each teacher’s professional growth that is second to none. 79% of the faculty hold advanced degrees and 13 have earned doctorates. Together, we provide a challenging, transformative and nurturing school environment.
I hope you will choose to visit MKA and experience our school in action.
With all best wishes,
Thomas W. Nammack
