About

Founded in 1974, The Academy News is the student-run newspaper of Montclair Kimberley Academy. All content and design decisions are made by students; however, the paper is advised by a member of the MKA faculty. The Academy News strives to offer objective and comprehensive coverage of all school-related and local news. The print newspaper is published monthly throughout the school year (September-May, excluding January due to the testing period). Content is categorized by news, opinions, and sports, each with its own department editor. All editorships are chosen in May for the following school year. All MKA students are encouraged to use their skills (whether it be writing, photography, business, design, web editing, etc.) to contribute to the paper. Student reporters begin as issue contributors and after their first year, progress to staff writers when they become eligible to become writing editors.
