Earlier this month, Upper School students in Dr. He and Ms. Chen’s Chinese language classes, Mr. Hessler’s Chinese history class, and students, faculty, and staff interested in Asian cultures, were given a unique opportunity to interact with Peking Opera performer Ghaffar Pourazar. Renowned and celebrated in China, Ghaffar has won numerous awards for his mastery of Peking Opera and his deep understanding of Chinese traditional culture.

Throughout the event, students immersed themselves in Ghaffar's insights, dedicating their time to mastering the intricate steps, vocal techniques, and movements inherent in Peking Opera. This ancient art form, refined over millennia, provided a rich platform for cultural exploration and artistic expression. Under Ghaffar's guidance, students not only acquired practical skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for the profound heritage embedded within Asian culture.
