Middle School Community Honors Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Did you know that May is #AAPIHeritageMonth. One of the ways the Middle School community honored Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month was by having speaker, writer, and MKA parent Marina Budhos present during their AAPI Assembly. Her presentation, “Poetry & Songs of Asian Pacific Islander Immigrants” shared information about west coast immigration through poetry, songs, and stories. Ms. Budhos touched upon Angel Island, the sugar cane fields of Hawaii, The Chinese Exclusion Act, and the Trans-Pacific Railway in a way that kept students and teachers engaged and eager to learn more.

It was an honor to hear Ms. Budhos speak at our school and we appreciate her sharing her story and knowledge with our community!
