MKA’s Varsity Head Baseball Coach Ralph Pacifico captured his 500th career win on Tuesday, April 4 in a dramatic 5-4 win in the bottom of the 7th over rival Glen Ridge. He now boasts a record of 500-311-1 over the course of his career. Coach Pacifico is renowned in Essex County and beyond for his knowledge and experience and now joins a select group of 34 coaches who have achieved this many wins over the course of their career.
Not only has Coach Pacifico has been a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend to thousands of young students in his role as Primary School physical education instructor, but as the head of MKA’s baseball program for 32 years, he has also been a steadfast, dedicated, and inspiring leader for many athletes and their families. His enthusiasm for the game of baseball and commitment to growing a successful program have made MKA student-athletes better players, and more importantly, better men. A reporter from DiamondNation.com noted, “It’s accurate to say few coaches believe in or stick up for his players more.” The milestone 500th win is an incredible moment for the entire MKA baseball family (past and present) but especially for Coach Pacifico and his wonderful family who have been with him every step of the way.
After this historic win, the team’s first of the 2023 season, there is no way Coach P. is slowing down. He said, “I still love coaching the game, [and] I learn a little more every year. I’m a very different coach today than I was when I started. I’m a better listener, and I think I like to coach even more.” Coach P. also shared, “This win is also about all the players I coach, and that’s the best thing about it. I share this celebration with them because they won the games.”
Congratulations on an incredible career coaching milestone!
