Celebrating National Merit® Scholarship Program Recognition

Twenty MKA seniors have been recognized by the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation. Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit® Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year, and recognition is shared in the fall of senior year. The National Merit Scholarship Program is in its 67th year and is an academic competition for recognition and more than $30 million in scholarships that includes approximately 1.5 million entrants each year.

Milo Blake, Joshua Kaufman, Olivia Okun-Dubitsky, and Sebastian So have been named Semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists represent less than one percent of high school seniors nationwide. South Orange resident Milo Blake, Randolph resident Joshua Kaufman, Montclair resident Olivia Okun-Dubitsky, and Verona resident Sebastian So will now be considered for National Merit® Scholarships as the selection of approximately 7,600 Finalists from the group of more than 16,000 Semifinalists is now in progress.

The following sixteen seniors have been named 2022 National Merit® Scholarship Commended Scholars: Raghav Cholappadi, Aiden Ehrenreich, Natalia Espinosa Dice, Cindy Hu, Dhruv Jetley, Michael Kazarian, Andrew Kim, Aaron Lefkowitz, Ethan Lieberman, Jonathan Lui, Sofia Malaspina, Lara Pramanik, Caroline Sheffet, Clara Turck, Isiah Udofia, and Noah Weinberg. Although they will not continue in the 2022 competition for National Merit® Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition. ''Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC.

Congratulations to all students who were recognized for this tremendous accomplishment!
