Gretchen Ievers & Megan Felber Named New MKA Varsity Swim Coaches

The MKA Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Gretchen Ievers has been named our new “Interim" Head Varsity Swim Coach for the 2021-2022 season.

Coach Ievers was a Captain and a record holder in the 100 and 200 Breastroke at Bucknell University (PA). Upon graduation, she began a 5 year triathlon career which included representing the United States at the Amateur World Games in Perth, Australia. While training, she was the Assistant Swim Coach at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. She became the Assistant Athletic Director and Head Swim Coach at Saint Mary’s College (sister school of Notre Dame University) in South Bend, Indiana. She then moved to West Chester, PA where secured a master’s degree in Kinesthesiology while holding the title of Head of Aquatics at Brandywine YMCA. Life, marriage and children brought her to New Jersey where she began her teaching career at MKA’s Primary School and resumed coaching the senior group of the Caldwell Cyclone club swim team.

In addition, we are thrilled to announce that Megan Felber, long time Head Swim Coach at the Montclair Beach Club and the YMCA of Montclair will be joining the program as our “Interim” Assistant Varsity Swim Coach. Coach Felber's enthusiastic approach and knowledge of the sport of Swimming and immediate rapport with our student athletes made her an ideal candidate for the position. We are thrilled that Coach Felber has agreed to take on this position and we know how much the team will look forward to working with her this winter.

With their firsthand experience of what it takes to compete and succeed at both the high school and college levels, we are confident that Coach Ievers and Coach Felber will have an immediate impact on our Swimming program and we look forward to an exciting season ahead.
