On Thursday, February 9, the Montclair Kimberley Academy History Department will host "Believing in a Sacred Planet: How Religious Gourps and Environmentalists are Working Together to Save the Earth." An evening with Martin Palmer, Secretary General of Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC).

As well as being an environmentalist and religious historian Martin Palmer is an author, broadcaster and public speaker. He wrote Worlds of Difference, a book for schools about how different beliefs shape the ways people treat the natural world. It was the first book of its kind. "Worlds of Difference caught the eye of The Duke of Edinburgh who invited Palmer to assist in organizing a meeting between leaders of the major religious groups and environmentalists in the late 1980's. The Alliance of Religions and Conservation was organized after this meeting with Palmer appointed to the position of Secretary General. Palmer has held this position from 1995 to the present."

This event, which is open to the public and free of charge, will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the MKA Upper School Campus in the new Academic Center, 6 Lloyd Road, Montclair. For more information, contact David Hessler at dhessler@mka.org or call 973-842-2882.
