The new school year has brought many unexpected changes, but the 2020 Montclair Kimberley Academy Athletics brand redesign has been highly anticipated! The new look celebrates the past with the legendary cougar and traditional school colors while looking forward with bold design and updated, dynamic images for present and future MKA athletes and teams.

In August of 2019, MKA entered into a multi-year partnership with BSN SPORTS, the nation’s largest direct marketer and distributor of sporting goods to the school and league markets and a division of Varsity Brands. This agreement included the opportunity to work with Varsity Brand's professional school branding experts, VIP Branding, on an updated set of logos.

By teaming up with Varsity Brands, MKA was afforded the opportunity to go through a complete brand refresh. “Our VIP Branding team truly had the pleasure of working with the stakeholders of MKA to develop their completely custom brand. Both variations of the mascot body provide a strong and recognizable image for students, faculty, alumni, and the community to rally around,” said Helen Price, Vice President of VIP Branding. “MKA’s wordmarks and initials are classic with a modern flair that will be timeless.”

“In finalizing our MKA Athletics brand redesign, we worked closely with a panel of MKA Varsity Head Coaches and former MKA athletes who competed at the collegiate level and understood what athletic branding does and portrays for a school and/or university,” shared Athletic Director Todd Smith. “We wanted to do something special that celebrated our history while moving us forward for the next generation of MKA athletes.”

Head of School Tom Nammack recognized the time and work put into this effort by many members of the community: “Together, they have created a modern, updated representation of what it means to be an MKA athlete, while maintaining the tradition of which we are so proud.”

Fans of MKA can see our athletes in action in person as allowed by current health and safety guidelines, as well as online through MKA TV. Stay tuned by visiting mka.org/athletics for the most up to date scheduling information. Go Cougars!
