MKA Middle and Upper School Theater Students Recognized With Foxy Awards

Montclair State University’s Department of Theater and Dance presented the Theatre Night Foxy Awards, an increasingly significant and well-attended event since its inception in 2009. The awards honor the accomplishments of individual achievement of both students and educators in the areas of performance, direction, design, and technical theatre, as well as outstanding productions.

MKA was recognized at both the middle and high school levels for excellence in performance, direction, and production. Two Middle School students were recognized with Foxy awards for Outstanding Performance by an Actor and Actress in a Middle School Play: Dylan C. as Roeder in Radium Girls and Layla L. for her turn as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth. Middle School Theater Arts teacher Lisa Gunn-Becker was recognized with two awards for the production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth: Outstanding Achievement in Direction of a Middle School Play and Outstanding Production of a Middle School Play.

Additionally, MKA’s Upper School cast and crew of The Play That Goes Wrong garnered the Best Acting Ensemble win at the high school level. The award-winning play is a hilarious farce about a small amateur theater company doing their absolute best to put on a murder mystery play where, much to their embarrassment, a lot goes wrong.

We are so proud that our MKA performers, directors, and producers have been recognized for their excellence in theater arts. Congratulations!
