MKA Middle and Upper Schools Celebrate Graduation In Person

On Friday, July 24, MKA’s Van Brunt Field was the site of two in-person events celebrating 8th graders and seniors. Due to restrictions in June related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Commencement for the Class of 2020 and the Moving Up ceremony for the 8th grade looked very different than in past years: both were drive-by events where students and their families saw faculty and staff from afar but were not together with their classmates. Administrators, faculty, and staff were committed to making an in-person celebration for students and their families happen when safe and allowed by the State of New Jersey. On Friday morning, 8th graders were celebrated as they walked across the stage, heard speeches, and had photo opportunities. In the evening, seniors and their families attended a ceremony where they too walked across the stage, listened to speeches, and enjoyed time all together on campus as a class. While attendees wore masks and maintained physical distance from one another, it was wonderful to be able to spend time together and officially close the year for our students.
