Senior Alexander Chon Selected as One of New Jersey’s Delegates to the 2020 United States Senate Youth Program

It is with great pleasure that MKA congratulates Senior Alexander Chon on his selection as one of New Jersey’s two delegates to the 2020 United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). Alex was chosen based on his “outstanding leadership abilities, high scholastic standing, strong commitment to [his] school and community, and interest in government, history, and politics.” He will join the 103 other delegates in Washington, DC for a week-long intensive program on government and leadership held in March.

The juniors and seniors who are selected from each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education Activity meet with high level officials from each branch of government. After completion of the program, all participants will be eligible for a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship. The United States Senate Youth Program is in its fifty-eighth year and is fully funded by the Hearst Foundations. Alex is the current Student Body President, Editor-in-Chief of the school’s newspaper, The Academy News, and a captain of the cross-country team. We are so pleased that his strong record of leadership and academic achievement has been recognized by such a prestigious organization, and we wish him the very best as he experiences the USSYP!
