STAR Offerings

STAR (Grade 3-8)

Design your own individualized schedule with exactly what YOU want to do. Try your hand at some sports and combine it with some art and science courses. Learn to swim and decorate a cake—the choice is up to YOU! Campers will choose 8 activities for each week of registration from our diverse menu of course offerings.

All of STAR Camp’s sport courses are taught by experienced coaches. Our highly qualified swim staff members are all Red Cross certified.

Please note that if your child is enrolled in “Dancing with the STARS”, “Cheerleading” or “STAR Camp’s Got Talent” there will be a 2:00 p.m. show every Friday. Come and watch your talented STAR performers!

Choose from the following course offerings:


Take aim at a real camp challenge as STAR Camp looks back to the days of Robin Hood! During the course of the week, campers will learn the basics of archery, gain accuracy and compete in daily and weekly challenges

Art Adventures

Create artwork using an assortment of media such as paints, markers, paper bags, cardboard and more. Campers will be cutting, painting, gluing, drawing and creating magnificent artwork for everyone to enjoy.


Each day will consist of skill work including throwing, catching, infield and outfield play, hitting, bunting and base running fundamentals.


STAR Camp’s coaching staff will work on passing techniques, defensive positions, communication, rebounding and ball handling and basketball philosophies.

Battle Balls

Campers are placed inside their own giant bubble while they try to score a goal. Check out this newest extreme sport on YouTube!

Cake Decorating

Kids love to bake! The STAR Camp decorating instructor will walk campers through basic techniques and assist them as they plan and perfect designs on their own cupcakes, small cakes or cookies. There will be an additional charge of $10 for this class that will be billed separately.


If you love to dance and cheer, then you’re just the camper for this class. You’ll learn dances, cheers, chants, stunts, jumps and other fun cheering activities! Learn STAR Camp cheers to perform in the show on Fridays.

Classic Board Games

Come play Connect 4, Monopoly, Checkers, Chess, Cards, Battleship and more! Play the classics and compete in weekly tournaments.

NEW! Coding/Robotics

Learn to code using robots like Dot and Dash, Ozobots and Spheros using iPad apps. Coding challenges encourage and require creativity, engineering, and design thinking! 

Computer Genius

Explore the MAC system in this fun-filled cyber class! Photoshop, Photobooth, I-Movie, I-Web design, animation using the Flash program, vocal recording, and Garage Band are just a few programs to explore!

Crafty Campers

Have fun, create and hang out with your favorite counselors making a variety of traditional camp crafts—duct tape, friendship bracelets, fuse beads, keychains, tie-dye, lanyard, jewelry and much, much more!

Creative Cartooning

If you love to draw, then this course is for you. With the guidance of a professional cartoonist, campers will develop and create their own cartoons and comic books.

Dancing with the STAR’s

Learn the latest moves and choreograph dance routines to the latest popular songs, then perform them at STAR Camp’s Friday Show!


Learn the footwork fundamentals to all three weapons of fencing. Campers will develop self-discipline, coordination and sportsmanship and participate in a Tournament Friday where they can test out their new skills!


Instruction will be given in throwing, catching, and blocking and other offensive and defensive skills. Fun games and skill competitions ensure a great time for all!

Four-Square/Ga-Ga Combo

These traditional blacktop games are popular amongst campers and counselors alike!

It’s true, MKA has it’s very own Ga-ga court!

Golf Clinic

Learn swing mechanics, set up, and grip techniques from a licensed PGA professional. Equipment will be provided.

Graphic Design

Graphic design campers will immerse themselves in print design and learn the basics of photoshop. If your child is interested in art music and working on the computer, they will love this program! No prior knowledge needed.

Gym Games

Dodgeball, Capture the Flag, Floor Hockey, Team Handball, and more--a different game each day as voted on by campers!


Grab your sticks and get ready for fun on MKA’s beautiful turf field. No prior experience necessary! The skills and drills for cradling, shooting, passing and basic defensive concepts taught in this course guarantee improvement in all players.


Put your architectural skills to work while creating a variety of planes, cars, trucks, spaceships, boats and buildings using traditional legos. Fun for everyone!

Rock Climbing

Work with skilled instructors to build rock-climbing expertise! MKA’s facilities provide challenges for all levels of climber, from the first timer to the skilled veteran.


An experienced coach and collegiate players will be on hand to teach you key soccer techniques through challenging drills and fun competitions appropriate to your level of play. World Cup Day will be a highlight!

Strength and Fitness Training

Take advantage of MKA’s newly designed weight room and equipment. Instruction will focus on total body fitness for a strong and healthy lifestyle while also improving camper’s speed and agility.

STAR Camp Idol

Work with counselors to perfect your talents and then perform in the weekly show!

STAR Camp Press

Learn what it takes to be a reporter. Find out about the who, what, where and why of STAR Camp as we put together a weekly newsletter. Effective interview techniques as well as photojournalism will be explored.

STAR Video

Learn the ins and outs of video making. Create a screenplay, shoot and direct your own short film, starring YOU! Our experienced staff will also teach you how to cut, edit and add a sound track to your movies!


Divided into 6 levels for beginning to advanced swimmers, students are taught by top-notch instructors. Levels are: introduction to water skills, fundamental aquatic skills, stroke development, stroke improvement, stroke refinement and swimming skill proficiency.

Tie Dye and Bracelets

Tie dye your favorite clothing item or camp t-shirt and make braided or beaded bracelets.

Top-STAR Chefs

Make kid-friendly recipes that are fun and tasty! Create menus and take home recipes. Please note: There will be an additional charge of $10 that will be billed separately.

NEW! Yoga

Balance, coordination and strength movements are at the core of this new course.  Yoga will teach campers about meditation, focus and breathing techniques while moving through various yoga poses.
