We began our final day in China with a visit to the Temple of Heaven. The several hundred year old structure, painted intricately with dragons and other ornate designs, was the emperor's personal place of worship. We not only spent time at the temple itself, we also got the chance to explore the vast public park which surrounds the structure.
The area was lively, with people dancing together and playing various card and board games. Afterwards, we made our way to a silk factory where we were given an enthusiastic tour of the process by which silk products are made. We even got to hold silk worms. Following the tour, everyone was able to buy various items made of silk, ranging from comforters to ties.
