Music Production & Beatmaking

For students in  rising 4th & 5th grades

Teacher: Lara K. Mitofsky Neuss

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Time:  9:00 AM- 10:25 AM

Description: Create beats, build tracks, and produce your own sound. In this hands-on class, students will explore the world of digital music production using platforms like Soundation, Chrome Music Lab, and Soundtrap.Students will learn how producers layer rhythm, melody, loops, samples, and effects to create original beats and contemporary digital music. Along the way, they’ll experiment with sound design, mixing, and arrangement while developing creativity and confidence with music technology. Perfect for students interested in modern music production, electronic music, and learning how today’s tracks are made.

Sports Analytics: Math in Motion

For students in grades rising 6-8

Teacher: Elizabeth Pociask

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Time:  9:00 AM- 10:25 AM

Description: Discover how math powers the world of sports. In this hands-on class, students explore statistics, probability, and geometry through real game scenarios—analyzing player performance, calculating angles and speed, and using data to make strategic decisions. From basketball to soccer to track, students learn how numbers drive success on and off the field.

Textile Studio: From Stitch to Sew*

For students in grades rising 4-8

Teacher: Pascuala Sylleros

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Time:  9:00 AM- 12:00 PM*

Description: Design it. Stitch it. Take it home. In this creative workshop, students will learn the basics of sewing and textile design through fun, hands-on projects.

Students will experiment with cross-stitch, hand sewing, and (for older or more experienced participants) sewing machines to bring their ideas to life. They’ll also create a stitch book—a personalized collection of techniques and designs they can continue to build on.

With projects adapted to different skill levels, every student will grow as a maker while developing craftsmanship, focus, and creative confidence.

Problem Solvers Academy 

Gr. 6-8

9:00 AM - 10:25 AM

Dates: Aug. 3-7

Description: Challenge the way you think about math. In this interactive summer program, students tackle high-interest math challenges through boardgames, strategy activities, collaboration, and real-world problem solving. Instead of memorizing steps or completing endless worksheets, students learn to explain their thinking, test ideas, and work through complex problems together using strategy and logic. The result is stronger mathematical confidence, deeper understanding, and a more positive relationship with math.

Data Detectives: Math in the Real World 

Gr. 6-8

Dates:  Aug. 10-14

Description: Discover how math shapes the world around us. In this discussion-based class, students explore real-world issues—like social media algorithms, housing costs, and economic inequality—through data, graphs, ratios, equations, and problem solving. Through collaborative activities and meaningful conversations, students strengthen critical-thinking, communication, and leadership skills while learning how math can help explain and address complex challenges in society.

Jumpstart Math: Ready for Next Year

Gr. 4

10:35- 12:00

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Description: Get ahead before the school year begins. This program helps students strengthen core math skills, build confidence, and preview key concepts they’ll encounter in the upcoming year. Through games, collaborative challenges, problem solving, and hands-on activities, students develop deeper mathematical understanding in an engaging, supportive environment. It’s the perfect way to refresh skills, reduce back-to-school stress, and start the year feeling prepared and confident. There will be different math topics covered each week.

7th/8th Math Foundations

For students in grades rising 7 & 8

Description: This course reviews essential skills from 7th and 8th grade, helping students build fluency in fractions, integers, word problems, and linear functions to ensure a confident and successful transition into the school year.

The Writer’s Studio: Find your voice

For students in grades rising 4 & 5

Teacher: Alison Miller

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Time:  10:35 AM- 12:00 PM

Description: Whether you already love writing or aren’t quite sure where to start, this course is for you. In a supportive, creative environment, students will experiment with a wide range of writing styles—from poetry and memoir to editorial pieces, reviews, and even graphic storytelling. We’ll explore short excerpts from powerful writers and artists to see how they bring ideas, opinions, and emotions to life. Then, students will try out those techniques in their own work, building confidence and discovering their unique voice. By the end of the course, students won’t just see writing as a school assignment—they’ll see themselves as writers.

5th/6th Math Foundations

For students in grades rising 5 & 6

Description: This course reviews essential skills from 5th and 6th grade, including fractions, integers, word problems and geometrical representations. Students will dive deep into these topics so they can start the school year with confidence.

Music Composition: Write Your Own Music

For students in grades rising 4-8

Teacher: Lara K. Mitofsky Neuss

Dates: Aug. 3-7 and  Aug. 10-14

Time:  12::35 PM- 2:00 PM

Description: Learn the craft behind composing original music. In this course, students will explore the fundamentals of music theory and composition while developing the skills to write and notate their own original pieces. Using manuscript paper, notation software like MuseScore, and digital audio workstations, students will study melody, harmony, rhythm, and musical form as they learn how composers turn ideas into finished scores.

Ideal for students interested in songwriting, instrumental composition, and understanding the structure behind great music.

The Learning Lab: Build Better Habits*

For students in grades rising 6-8

Teacher: Laura Demaria

Dates:  Aug. 10-14

Time:  12:35 PM- 2:00 PM

Description: Great students aren’t just born—they build strong habits. In this interactive course, students will learn how to stay organized, manage their time, and approach challenges with confidence. From planning and prioritizing to improving memory and self-monitoring, each day introduces a new skill and gives students a chance to practice it in real time. By the end of the course, students will have a set of strategies they can use right away to feel more in control and ready for the school year ahead.

Creative Writing Lab: Stories,  Poems & more

For students in grades rising 6-8

Description: What kind of writer are you? In this creative, low-pressure workshop, students will explore poetry, memoir, reviews, graphic novels, and more—trying on different styles to see what fits. Along the way, we’ll read short, engaging pieces from published authors and break down how they craft their work. Students will then apply those techniques to their own writing, developing skills in expression, structure, and creativity. Perfect for students who love to write—and for those who aren’t so sure yet. You might be surprised by what you can create.

Juega y Habla: Play your way to Spanish Fluency*

For students in grades rising 4 & 5

Teacher: Pascula Sylleros

Dates: Aug. 3-7

Time:  12:35 PM- 2:00 PM

Description: Learn Spanish the fun way—by playing. In this interactive class, students build vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills through engaging card and board games. Team challenges and friendly competition create a low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and trying new words. It’s a great way to strengthen Spanish skills, boost confidence, and get a head start for the upcoming school year.

DIY Studio: Craft & Customize*

For students in grades rising 4- 8

Dates: Aug. 10-14

Description: Try a little bit of everything. From crochet and beaded designs to keychains and beginner amigurumi, students explore a mix of creative projects in a relaxed, social setting. This class is all about experimenting, customizing, and making fun, take-home pieces—no experience needed.
