Melanie Bieber and Ralph Pacifico Publish an Impactful Book for Children
MKA’s Primary School Counselor and Tri-Campus Counselor Coordinator Melanie Bieber ’03 teamed up with longtime Primary School physical education instructor and Varsity Head Baseball Coach Ralph Pacifico to write a book for children titled Aaron Daniel Henry Davis, Just Another Day at School. Both Melanie and Ralph share a passion for helping children whose brains work a little differently than most. They created Aaron, who has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), to highlight the realities of the school day for children with ADHD and to celebrate the endless potential that each of those children possesses. This book is meant to educate both students and adults about ADHD and shares strategies and resources for teachers that will help ensure success for children who learn differently.

Melanie said, “ADHD makes it very challenging for a child to manage thoughts and actions, pay attention, control impulsive behavior, follow directions, and sit still. By making small changes in the classroom, maintaining open lines of communication, and working closely with external professionals, parents and other teachers, we can effectively support a child with an ADHD diagnosis.” While professional experience motivated both authors, the project was also a personal journey for Ralph. He said, “This book means so much to me because I was Aaron when I was a kid, so it really speaks to me.”
Congratulations, Melanie and Ralph, and may many families and students find a voice and inspiration in Aaron and your book!
