Success in swimming can be defined in so many ways. Personal best times, goals set and accomplished, the willingness to accept challenges, the understanding that pushing past discomfort results in growth, and supporting teammates both in and out of the water are all very important facets that lead to success. When the practices end and the meets are done, an athlete should walk away from this sport with an appreciation for mental toughness, physical toughness, and the importance of working as a team.
