A Weekend of New Records for MKA Athletes
Congratulations to three MKA Athletes who secured new records this past weekend.
Senior Matt Lane registered 8 points (4 goals/4 assists) against Newark Academy in the 1st Round of the Essex County Boys' Lacrosse Tournament held on Saturday. Matt's 321 career points now put him at #1 on the all-time Essex County Boys' Lacrosse list, breaking the previous record of 313 points held by a West Essex High player since 2004. Matt will continue his lacrosse career at Syracuse University in the fall.
Meanwhile, Dana Placentra '13 and Lyndsi Ross-Trevor '14 captured the Essex County Pole Vault Relay Championship with a combined jump of 21'. This is MKA's first-ever Pole Vault Relay Championship at the ECT Track and Field Championships.
And while not record-breaking, MKA Varsity Baseball (#15 seed) defeated Millburn (#2 seed) 6-4 in the Essex County Championships in an epic game described by the Star Ledger as follows: "In the storied 81-year history of the Greater Newark Tournament, Saturday's game has to rank among the tournament's biggest upsets. Montclair Kimberley had to win two preliminary round games just to reach Saturday's first round. But in this "David vs. Goliath" like matchup, Montclair Kimberley delivered a stunning hay-maker to a team many considered the tournament favorite."
Congratulations to all our athletes on a remarkable weekend of play!
