Another Great Week for MKA Athletics

This has been another great week for MKA athletics, as three teams advance in state championship play.

The Varsity Boys' Soccer Team defeated Newark Academy 2-1 in overtime to advance to the NJ Prep State Finals which will be played at home at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday, November 6.  Miles Hackett '13 scored the tying goal with 3 minutes left in regulation and Malcolm Dixon '15 scored the game winner 15 seconds into overtime.  

The Varisty Girls' Field Hockey Team defeated Princeton Day School 1-0 and also advance to the NJ Prep State Finals, following a goal from Jasmine Cole '13, and a shutout from goalie, Mollie Peek '14. Their championship game will also be played at home at noon this Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Varsity Girls' Soccer Team (13-7-1) had an exciting week, defeating #8 seed Morristown Beard 2-0 on Tuesday in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public B tournament and #1 seed Villa Walsh 2-1 last night in the NJSIAA Non-Public B Quarterfinals.  Kim Kirnan's '12 two goals and a strong  defensive effort, led by goalie Emma Layton '13, helped propel the team to the NJSIAA Non-Public B Semifinals for the first time in school history.  They will play away at Dwight Englewood on Monday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
