Cougar Pride Abounds at MKA's Homecoming 2015

12 October 2015

The weather could not have been more beautiful and fun was had by all on MKA's Homecoming and Reunion Weekend 2015 held the weekend of Oct. 10th.

Classes from the '00s and '05s gathered to enjoy their Reunion Luncheon and to honor Kassie Canter '75, the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award. The award is bestowed in recognition and appreciation of an outstanding achievement by an alumna or alumnus who has achieved distinction in some field of endeavor, or through outstanding character or dedication has been of special service to humanity. As Executive Vice President of Communications for Viacom Entertainment Group, Kassie Canter oversees all corporate communications and entertainment publicity for the Entertainment Group, which includes Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land and their respective web sites.

With the fall season in full swing and construction of the new Academic Center almost complete, families from all three campuses enjoyed the festivities lining Lloyd Road including student run tables selling food and MKA swag and a band promoting MKA's upcoming JAM on November 18th. Throughout the day, Homecoming attendees showed their Cougar pride, cheering on the MKA soccer and football teams. MKA's varsity football team defeated Morristown Beard and is now 6-0 in the season, the best record in the school's history! Even the MKA cougar himself showed up to the event wearing an MKA Day t-shirt. As a tribute to Jason Spiotta '88, an alumnus who tragically passed away this past summer, there was a moment of silence before the Homecoming football game. Following the moment of silence, Marc Spiotta '86 and the Spiotta family, accompanined the team captains on to the field for the coin toss.

Saturday evening cocktail parties for reunion classes at venues all around Montclair, perfectly capped off the days' celebrations with great food, friends and fare!

On Sunday, the first ever alumni soccer game took place on Van Brunt Field with over 40 players in attendance.
