Exciting New Program Initatives Announced at MKA
MKA Headmaster Thomas W. Nammack announced two exciting new program initiatives in a letter home to parents recently.
Beginning in September 2009, MKA will launch a Mandarin Chinese language program starting in seventh grade at the Middle School and also at the Upper School. Then, for September 2010, a new technology initiative will see the requirement of school-issued laptops for every student in both the Middle and Upper School.
MKA had implemented a faculty and staff laptop program in 2007, and the huge success of this in terms of providing a shared and equal platform for collaboration, school-wide communication and supportive learning has paved the way for the next step – providing our students with the same advantages both in and out of the classroom.
These exciting additions are the result of much work and research over the past three years, and demonstrate MKA’s on-going commitment to curricular and program growth, despite these uncertain economic times. Both these initiatives will enhance teaching and learning at MKA, enable MKA to maintain its position in the forefront of independent education and even more effectively prepare our students for the demands of work and life in college and beyond.
