Footloose coming to Weiss!
Need to inject some fun in your life? The Montclair Kimberley Academy’s annual winter musical production is Footloose - guaranteed to chase away the winter blues and provide the perfect outing for the whole family!
Don't miss this opportunity to see the classic tale of teen rebellion and repression set to great music come alive. When teenager Ren and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small town in the West, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite believe he's living in a place where rock music and dancing are banned thanks to the Rev. Shaw Moore. With his interest in Ariel, a troubled but lovely heroine with a jealous boyfriend, and senior prom approaching, can Ren find the courage to initiate a battle to abolish the outmoded ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople?
Produced and directed by MKA Upper School Fine and Performing Arts faculty member Nicole Hoppe, the production features a student cast, crew and pit band, with starring performances from sophomore Casey Garvin, juniors Julie Longthorne and Jake Perl and seniors Larissa D’Andrea and Dana Paolucci.
Performances are on Friday, February 27th at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28th at 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6th at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the Weiss Auditorium, 6 Lloyd Road, Montclair. Tickets are available at $10, $15 and $20 and may be purchased from the Box Office, by calling the Ticket Hotline at 973-509-3927 or online (scroll to the bottom of the page.)
