Laptops Launch at MKA!
Excitement was in the air at the MKA Middle School campus today as students received their brand new 13" MacBook Pros in preparation for the final roll-out of MKA's 1:1 Laptop Learning Program for grades 4-12 - a program based on years of research and preparation.
With Apple technicians on hand to help, over 340 middle schoolers set their passwords, linked to printers, learnt about new software applications and were reminded of the importance of back up and power management prior to using this powerful new tool to enhance their learning. This follows laptop distribution to Upper School students yesterday.
Over the summer, faculty were issued the same computers, equipped with identical software to ensure a common platform for teaching and learning, and students in grades 5-12 were required to study for and pass a "Driver's Test" that tested their knowledge and understanding of best practices and safety issues required in order to obtain full administrative rights on their computers.
Students in grade 4, many of whom come to the Middle School from the Brookside campus where students experience 1:1 technology opportunities in the classroom through a number of mobile laptop carts, iTouches and iPods, will receive classroom instruction prior to taking the Driver's Test.
