MKA 7th Grade Dancer Returns to Lincoln Center

30 November 2011

MKA 7th grader Kristina Hadjipetkov returns to Lincoln Center for the fourth year performing in the New York City Ballet's annual production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker.

Kristina, a student at the School of American Ballet, is one of eight "Candy Canes" and her dancing can now be seen without attending the ballet itself. For the first time since the production debuted in 1954, two live performances of The Nutcracker are being filmed for national broadcast: on Tuesday, December 13, when it will be shown in 550 movie theatres around the country at 6:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, December 14, when it will be broadcast on PBS Live from Lincoln Center at 8:00 p.m. on Channel 13. Kristina will be dancing in both performances; she appears in three pieces during Act II, and can first be seen as the dancer who runs out across the stage as the Candy Canes dance with hula hoops.
