MKA 7th Grade Presents Macbeth

28 January 2011

The Montclair Kimberley Academy 7th grade will perform William Shakespeare's Macbeth on Wednesday, February 16th and Thursday, February 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium, 201 Valley Road, Montclair.  There will be an additional in-school performance at 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the 17th.

Every member of the 7th grade has a part in the production. Students have the choice of playing a character on-stage, or working on crew back-stage, and special curricular units in English and history enhance their understanding of Shakespeare's world.  This year's production, set in medieval Scotland, takes the concept of disturbance in nature as its theme.

"Director Christian Ely has been working with each and every student who plays a character to make Macbeth the best it can be," notes publicity crewmember Amanda D'Alessandro.  And the young actors seem to agree: “It’s going really well. In the end, this play will be great!” says Ana Lucia Espinosa Dice, who is playing King Duncan.  “We are going to show our true work and true effort during this performance.” Notes Ross Turkington, playing the role of Macduff, and Abby South, who has the part of Lady Macbeth, sums up the feelings of her peers: “I’m excited, we are all excited!”

Special thanks to 7th graders Amanda D'Alessandro and Kaleb Eyob for their assistance with this release.
