MKA 7th Grader Published by NPR

Congratulations to MKA 7th grader Sydney Abraham who had an essay recently published on NPR's "This I Believe" website.

The piece, written last spring in an MKA 6th grade English unit on personal essays, reflects on the influence that the children's book Ish by Peter Reynolds had on her, and how the story's message helped her to come to terms with the fact that not everything in life can be perfect.  "We used NPR's "This I Believe" model for the essays," notes Sydney's former teacher Karen Schifferdecker, "so the fact that they liked it enough to publish is really gratifying.  I am so proud of the creativity and thoughtfulness that Sydney put in to crafting her essay!"
