MKA Announces New Head Varsity Coaches
MKA Director of Athletics Todd Smith announced today that John LaGorce has been appointed Head Varsity Ice Hockey Coach and that Fay Lonsinger has been appointed Head Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach.
LaGorce received his B.A. from Flagler College (’89) and his B.S. from Massachusetts Maritime Academy (’94). He is currently a USA certified coach in both Ice Hockey (Level 4) and Lacrosse, and is a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Smith notes:"Throughout his career Coach LaGorce has done an outstanding job of working with athletes to help them reach their potential both on and off the ice. His extensive experience, enthusiastic approach and knowledge of the sport of Ice Hockey, together with his rapport with his athletes, made him an ideal candidate for the head coaching position. In addition,Coach LaGorce is very familiar with the NJ Youth Ice Hockey leagues and travel teams, having coached various teams throughout his coaching career."
Lonsinger attended MKA from 1985-1989 before transferring to Choate Rosemary Hall where she played soccer and lacrosse in her junior and senior years. She then attended Georgetown University where she was a four-year starter, Captain and MVP. Coach Lonsinger coached at Montclair High School from1999-2004, and has been instrumental in helping to build youth lacrosse programs in Glen Ridge and Verona.Says Smith, "Throughout her coaching career, Coach Lonsinger has done an outstanding job of working with young athletes to help them reach their potential both on and off the field. Her enthusiastic approach, wealth of experience and knowledge of the sport of lacrosse, together with her rapport with student athletes, makes her an ideal candidate for the Head Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse position.
