MKA Art Teacher Wins Juried Show at SCAD

14 September 2010

Congratulations to Upper School Fine and Performing Arts Chair Alicia Cuccolo who received first place at a juried show of art at The Savannah College of Art and Design's 2010 Art Educators' Forum this July. The juried show, entitled "Small Works, Teacher as Artist" was open to all participants, and Cuccolo's winning submissions were small sculptures.

The Forum, an annual event that attracts close to 100 art teachers from around the country and around the world, offers a week of educator workshops that focus on a variety of art and design topics. Cuccolo, a practicing artist who received her BFA from The School of Visual Arts and an MA from New York University, teaches sculpture at MKA.  Among the workshops she attended were 2D and 3D animation, jewelry making, web design, drawing and teaching art the green way.  " It's a way to learn new skills, meet other teachers and recharge creative energies," notes Cuccolo, " with some recreational activities thrown in."
