MKA Continues to Meet With Athletic Success

Congratulations to the MKA Varsity Golf Team who captured the NJSIAA Non-Public B Golf State Championship yesterday at the Rumson Country Club.  The team was led by Steve Piela '12 who shot a 77 and finished 3rd overall.  Other team members to post low scores in helping the Cougars capture the title were Matt Kraus '11 (83), Will Johnson '10 (83) and Joe Mallock '10 (89).

Congratulations to the MKA Girls Track and Field Team who took 3rd Place in the Non-Public B NJSIAA Sectional Track and Field Championships in Randolph, NJ this past weekend. Highlights include performances by senior Erin Spain who took 2nd place in the 800m with a new MKA record of 2:25.16, and 4th place in the 400m, senior Sue Abuhadba with a 2nd place in the Shot Put and 3rd place in the Discus, junior Hallie Earle with 2nd place in the 200m and 3rd place in the 100m and freshman Dana Placentra taking 1st pace in Pole Vault (9 feet) and 4th place in the High Jump (4' 8").  In addition, senior Laurainne Ojo-Ohikuare came in 3rd place in the Javelin and freshman Sarah Finn took 4th place in the 800m.

And finally, congratulations to senior Laura Placentra, recipient of the MKA Spring Captain’s Award for her role as Varsity Softball Captain.  In his remarks, Athletic Director Todd Smith said, "A winner of a remarkable 12 Varsity letters during her High School career, Laura has started every game since her freshman year and has always been willing to play anywhere for the good of the team.  She is a quiet leader on the field and simply lets her actions, work ethic, and athletic prowess do the talking for her as she continuously sets a high standard for her teammates."
