MKA Football to Enjoy New Competition for 2014

In a return to the traditions of its program, MKA Football will depart from the Super Essex Conference (SEC) next year in order to compete against a roster of more comparably matched schools.
"Football has and always will be an important part of our school community." Notes MKA's Athletic Director Todd Smith. "We strongly believe that seeking an independent football schedule against schools of similar size, mission, philosophy and strength of program will allow our team to compete in a much healthier and more competitive football environment moving forward."
The move will not preclude MKA from NJSIAA tournament play should they qualify, as the majority of their new opponents continue to be from New Jersey, with the addition of a few from New York. The 2014 season will open on September 6th with a home game against Immaculate Conception High School, and scheduled games against Glen Ridge High School, Riverdale Country Day School The Pennington School, Fieldston School, Morristown-Beard School, The Hackley School, Cardinal McCarrick High School and Newark Academy will round out the season.
" We believe this move will energize our program, players, parents and alumni," concludes Smith, "And we can all look forward to a new and exciting era for MKA Football."
