MKA Inducts Seniors to Cum Laude Society
Congratulations to twenty-one seniors from the MKA Class of 2013 who were inducted into the Cum Laude Society at a formal ceremony held at the Upper School on June 8.
Duncan Currie, MKA Class of 2000, speechwriter and senior policy advisor for U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R. Texas), the Senate Republican Whip, was the keynote speaker and advised: “If you hope to achieve perfect balance, you’re bound to be disappointed. Searching for perfect balance in life is like searching for the Fountain of Youth ... But here’s the thing: It’s the sacrifices you make for the people you love that will bring you the most enduring and meaningful happiness and satisfaction. In the words of Harvard psychiatrist George Vaillant … “The only thing that really matters in life are your relationships to other people.” If you keep that in mind, you’ll be okay.”
The Cum Laude Society, established in l906, is modeled on the Phi Beta Kappa Collegiate National Honor Society and recognizes the scholastic achievement of secondary school students. It is the highest academic honor bestowed on members of the graduating class. The 2013 inductees are: Alexander Amari, Alexa Bieler, Lainey Buckowiec, Will Cerf, Danielle Charpentier, Olutola Ebunlomo, Zoe Ferguson, Sarah Finn, Jason Kwan, Emily Lau, Noah Makow, Emma Montoya, Kristin Morisseau, Jeremy Moses, Nicholas Pai, Julia Perlmutter, Emma Randall, David Reading, Carly Sibilia, Jeffrey Smith and Zachary Yanes.
