MKA Junior Recognized at National Medical Meeting

MKA junior Puja Singh had the remarkable experience of attending the 2012 Society of Hospitalist Medicine annual meeting held in San Diego recently.

Through her volunteerism at the Staten Island University Hospital, Singh became involved in the care of a patient suffering from Annular Pancreas, and the resultant case report, primarily authored by resident physician Dr. Maryah Mansoor, listed Singh as a co-author.

The report, together with an associated poster, were presented into competition at the SHM meeting and named as a finalist. “Attending the meeting was a tremendous experience for me.” Said Singh, “Not only was seeing my name on the winning poster a thrill, but it also reminded me that I was one step closer to my dream of being a doctor someday."
