MKA Marks 125th Day of 125th Year with a Treasure Hunt!

18 April 2013

Thursday, April 18, the 125th day of school in MKA’s 125th anniversary year, was celebrated with a very special Treasure Hunt on all three campuses. Teams of six students and one faculty advisor from each campus were dispatched to the other campuses (Primary students to the Middle School, Middle School students to the Upper School and Upper School students to the Primary School) to search for important School artifacts that had gone missing – The MacVicar Cane, a Kimberley Handbell and the 1933 Brookside Posture Award.

A sealed envelope containing a series of clues drawn up by Headmaster Tom Nammack was waiting for each team at the campus reception desks and the spirited searches began! Hidden in places as disparate as a greenhouse, a model cannon and a kiln, coded answers finally led to the missing treasure – the cane in the Upper School Library fireplace, the handbell in the Middle School Library fireplace and the Posture Award in the Primary School fishtank!

The names of the teams, along with a description of the Treasure Hunt, will be placed in the 125th Anniversary Time Capsule that will be opened in the fall of 2026.
