MKA Middle School Students Are Empowered at Frost Valley

20 September 2012

MKA’s mission to instill Knowledge, Vision and Integrity was demonstrated by Middle School students who attended the annual Frost Valley trip last week. The Frost Valley YMCA promotes programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all, and Middle School students were afforded the opportunity to work collaboratively to achieve these goals. Maria Arellano, Middle School Dean of Students, acted as one of the chaperones on the trip and observed and witnessed first hand this transformative experience amongst the students and staff members. “On one night, the 7th graders played games by homeroom, and the teachers formed their own team.  They were given certain tasks. For example, we were asked to perform a skit, pretending the group was on a roller coaster.  On this round, it was the teachers who won.” To conclude the trip, the 6th graders, on their last night, gathered around a bonfire and had an impromptu "talent show." According to Arellano, “Children sang and danced under the stars, and it was a perfect was to end a perfect trip.” To view photos of Frost Valley, click here.
