MKA Mourns Loss of a Member of the Class of 2012
It is with the most profound sadness that Montclair Kimberley Academy recently learned of the tragic death of Indigo Brooks, MKA Class of 2012 on Saturday, October 6, following a short illness.
Indigo, a freshman at St. John’s University in Queens, NY, was one of the most vibrant and talented members of her high school class. Described by one of her English teachers as being “poetic and thoughtful,” she was a passionate and gifted dancer and actress, the President of the Shades of Color club, a key member of the Cheerleading squad, a member of the Field Hockey team, and one of the most active community service volunteers in her year. Indigo believed in living every day to the fullest and her energy and determination touched everyone who had the good fortune to know her.
The entire MKA community extends their love, thoughts and prayers to Indigo’s mother, Ms. Sharon Bowles. Information on services will be posted as it becomes available. In the meantime, the Upper School campus will be open tomorrow, Sunday October 7, from noon – 3:00 p.m. During that time, counselors and faculty will be on hand for any students who wish to gather at school.
