MKA Parents Celebrate A Successful Year

06 May 2015

Members of MKA's Parents' Association (PAMKA) gathered together at their annual General Meeting on Wednesday, May 6 to celebrate another successful year of community building and fundraising efforts.

Completing her first year as PAMKA President, Amy South thanked her Board and the 2014-15 Slate for their tireless efforts and the MKA administration for their ongoing support. She then introduced PAMKA Faculty Trust Grant recipient, Jess Bishop '04, who shared how her experience of studying in Rome last summer resulted into a series of podcasts she uses with her 6th grade social studies students.

Headmaster Tom Nammack addressed the large audience, giving thanks and appreciation for PAMKA's "very special" relationship with the faculty and administration that "makes a huge difference to the quality of the work environment and allows teachers at MKA to be their best selves."

PAMKA Finance VP Toni Friedman reported on PAMKA's significant fundraising efforts that resulted in the organization being able to present $263,000 to the school. This gift funds five Faculty Trust grants for next year, a $154,000 donation to MKA's Faculty Compensation Endowment, $50,000 to the Future Forward Campaign and Wish List items for each of the campuses.

Following approval of the Minutes, Bylaw Changes and the 2015-16 Slate of Officers, Amy paid tribute to PAMKA Liaison Debbie Kozak who leaves MKA at the end of the school year following over 20 years involvement with the Parents' Association. Outgoing members of the PAMKA Slate then met with incoming volunteers to transition their jobs in preparation for the 2015-16 school year.
