MKA Productions Receive Awards

As in the past, MKA's Upper School Fine and Performing Arts productions continue to reap professional accolades this season.  The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals has just named the 2008 MKA spring movie "All That We Know" the recipient of a Platinum AVA Award for a video Produced for a School and a Gold AVA Award for Writing.  The organization also announced that this year's Encore Weekend (which celebrates the return of those alumni involved in the arts to campus) movie "You Couldn't Pay Me Enough" is the recipient of a Gold AVA Award for Writing.  The entrants included video and film production companies, web developers, ad agencies, PR firms, corporate and government communication departments along with independent producers, directors, editors and videographers.  Platinum Winners are recognized for excellence in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness. Gold Winners recognize entries judged to exceed high standards of the industry norm.

Two of MKA’s productions had already met with success at the 2008 MarCom Awards Competition, an international competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The poster for  "All That We Know" won a Gold Design Award and the movie itself garnered a Gold Award in the Video/Film Educational Category.  The movie has also received a Silver Davey Award (in the Video/Low Budget category.) These wins were in addition to two Videographer Awards for Educational Video and Writing that this production had already received.  In addition, the poster for the 2007 Upper School Fall Play “The Trojan Women” won a Platinum Design Award. an award that recognizes quality, creativity and resourcefulness (only 18% of entries won this distinction this year.)

All these productions were directed by Upper School faculty member J.C. Svec and featured an MKA student-led cast and crew.
