MKA senior Hannah Kramer earns national recognition as a winner in the prestigious YoungArts Foundation competition
Congratulations to MKA senior and glassblower Hannah Kramer, who has earned national recognition as a winner in the prestigious YoungArts Foundation (formerly known as the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts) competition. She will be invited to participate in one of three National YoungArts regional programs from February through April 2016. YoungArts Winners become part of the organization's expansive alumni network of leading professionals.
Hannah Kramer is among the nation's top young artists in visual, literary and performing arts to be selected for this honor from an applicant pool of over 12,000 secondary school students from 42 states, and is one of the top 65 to earn recognition in the Visual Arts.
As a junior, Kramer exhibited her glass work in the Weiss Gallery on the Upper School campus last May along with her senior AP Studio Art classmates. For the past two summers, Kramer was selected to receive training and practical experience as a glassblowing instructor at Buck's Rock Creative and Performing Arts Camp in the Berkshires. As a sophomore, Hannah was admitted to the GlassRoots Business and Entrepreneurship year-long program in Newark's downtown arts district, and was named a finalist in its culminating business plan competition held at Newark Science High School.
Kramer is the founding co-president of the MKA Adventure Photography Club, and represented MKA in the Winter 2013-14 U.S. Congressional photography exhibit at the Capitol. Hannah is currently studying photography in her second year of AP Studio Art with Tony Cuneo.
