MKA Senior Wins Model UN Award at Brown

29 November 2010

Congratulations to MKA senior Evan Russenberger-Rosica, who recently won an award for his role in the Japanese War Crimes Committee at the Brown University Model United Nations Conference.  This is the first Model UN conference award received by an MKA student in the last few years.

The conference, held at Brown University from November 12-14, was attended by 650 students from 45 schools located across the United States. Students debated such subjects as world hunger, poverty, arms limitation, pollution and war crimes.  Awards were presented to those students who demonstrated their thorough understanding of the subject matter as well as their ability to lead debates, form coalitions and pass resolutions on these difficult subjects.

Evan was one of 19 students who represented MKA at the event. The school fielded participants from each of the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes, a broad-based participation that, notes club advisor Tom Carroll, "augurs well for the Model UN program at MKA for years to come."  A completely different set of 19 students will represent MKA at a similar conference at the University of Pennsylvania in late January.
