MKA Student Featured in WNET Profile of School of American Ballet
Montclair Kimberley Academy 7th grader Kristina Hadjipetkov was one of two young ballet students recently interviewed for a segment of WNET's Sunday Arts program focusing on the School of American Ballet at the Lincoln Center in New York.
Kristina, who attends classes at the School of American Ballet six days per week after her MKA days finish, recently performed in Jerome Robbins' "Circus Polka" at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at the Juilliard School Theatre. For the past three years she has danced in approximately 75 performances with the New York City Ballet in "George Balanchine's Nutcracker" at Lincoln Center. The roles of Soldier, Girl Polichinelle (with Mother Ginger) and Candy Cane for 24 performances each December. Other NYCB performances include "Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Magic Flute". This summer, Kristina was accepted through an audition process to the highly competitive and prestigious Chautauqua Institution Summer Dance Intensive in New York.
