MKA Student Takes Third Place in Chinese Speech Contest
For the third time in three years, an MKA student was not only invited to participate in the annual Chinese Bridge US High School Speech Contest, but also received a prize.
Congratulations go to sophomore Isaiah Kramer, a student in MKA’s Chinese 2 Honors class, who won third place in the ninth annual contest, held on March 8, 2014 at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
The contest, which has attracted more than 10,000 students from more than 130 schools nationwide, selects approximately 215 students to attend each year.
Participants choose a topic, write an essay in Chinese, then recite and record it. If they pass the first round, they are invited to speak before eight judges and an audience of over 100, and must answer questions in Chinese.
MKA Chinese teacher River He notes, “Isaiah did a really good job as a second year Chinese student. His performance was even praised by the Education Counsel of New York, Consulate General of China. I am so proud of him!”
