MKA Students Prepare to Reverse Trick-or-Treat

28 October 2011

Preparing for an unusual twist on traditional Halloween customs, MKA seventh grade students spent time preparing "Reverse Trick-or-Treating" Fair Trade packages to give to households in exchange for Halloween candy.

The packages, containing a piece of Fair Trade organic chocolate, together with information about helping Fair Trade cocoa farmers and their families afford education, will be handed to adults.

"This activity complements the seventh grade study of Africa." Notes MKA English Teacher and Middle School Diversity Committee Member Debbie Branker. "It is one very immediate way that the students can take responsibility for improving the quality of life for children in other nations."
