MKA Students Receive National Academic Accolades
Congratulations to MKA Senior Shelly Tsirulik who was named a Semifinalist in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Competition.The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that includes approximately 1.5 million entrants each year. Of these 1.5 million entrants, approximately 16,000 students are recognized as National Merit Semifinalists. MKA senior Shelly Tsirulik was chosen and will be considered for a National Merit Scholarship to be offered in 2016. The selection of some 8,000 Merit Scholarship® winners from the group of more than 16,000 Semifinalists is now in progress. Congratulations to Shelly on this tremendous accomplishment.
Congratulations to the following MKA students who have shown outstanding academic potential and are among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants nationwide (out of 1.5 million program entrants) in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Of the more than 50,000 high scorers nationwide, about 16,000 will be named National Mertit Semifinalist, representing the top scorers in each state, and approximately 34,000 others will be commended for their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. MKA's commended students in the 2016 National Merit Program are: William Bromley, Emma E Bruce, William M Curtis, Ana Lucia L Espinosa Dice, Sara R Feraca, Julia S Randall, Noreen F Rizwan, Morgan M Roberts, Paige Robinson, Marc D Roube, Jordan T Schildkraut, Rachel S Sobel, Samuel E Sobel, Caroline B Taylor and Shelly B Tsirulik (who became a semi-finalist!)
Congratulations to MKA students Sara Feraca and Ana Lucia Espinosa Dice who were invited to participate in the National Hispanic Recognition Program. In order to be invited, students must have scored in the top 2.5 % among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT takes in the region.
