MKA Teacher Recognized by Stanford University

MKA's advisor system is frequently cited as one of the strengths of the school's educational experience and congratulations go to MKA Upper School science teacher Laurie Smith who was recently recognized for her exceptional advising by Stanford University's Teacher Tribute Initiative.

The honor was based upon a nomination from one of her advisees, Devika Patel, MKA Class of 2012 and Stanford Class of 2016, who wrote of her: "Mrs. Smith: my advisor, one of my biggest fans, and an amazing source of support, advice and genuine care.  She is a true gem ... thank you for being my advocate, for looking out for me and for listening to me through my tumultuous but happy high school career.  You have taught me not only to be a better student, but a better person."
