MKA to Premiere Spring Movie in May
The MKA Upper School Fine & Performing Arts Department presents its 2014 Spring Movie Frankie at select times from May 8 through 17 at the MKA Deetjen Theatre, 6 Lloyd Road, Montclair.
Frankie takes place in a high school monopolized by the "it-girl" Jennifer Marshall and her crew. Frances Selwood, a typical "plain Jane" wants nothing more than to be accepted by Jennifer and her friends, and when given the opportunity, jumps at it. Through a process of reinvention and a personality overhaul, Frances, renamed "Frankie" by Jennifer, is able to discover who she truly is, and who she very much isn't. Directed by MKA faculty member J.C. Svec, Frankieis based on a story written by current MKA junior, Krissy Bylancik.
This is MKA’s 11th bi-annual movie. Known for including various participants among students, faculty, staff and professionals, the Spring Movie is no stranger to national acclaim. Previous productions have won awards in categories ranging from screenplay to art direction and editing from organizations that include the Telly Awards, The Davey Awards and the Columbus Film and Video Festival.
