MKA Upper School Students Attend the Brown Model UN Conference in Providence, RI

12 November 2014

On November 7th - 9th, eighteen MKA students attended the Brown Model UN Conference in Providence, RI. Students from all four grades at the Upper School participated. The trip this year was lead by Monty Nelson, who has been involved in the Model UN for four years. The students represented the countries of Kuwait, Kenya and Cameroon and debated such topics as income inequality, disarmament and human trafficking. The popularity of Model UN has flourished recently along with the continued focus on Global Programs at the Upper School. This year's students were also treated to a personalized tour of Brown conducted by Kassie Fotiadis (MKA '14), a Brown freshman. Kassie discussed such issues as class selection, student life and how well MKA has prepared her for college. A different group of 28 MKA students will attend the University of Pennsylvania's Model UN conference in Philadelphia in January 2015.
