MKA's Cougar Athletics Continue to Capture Top Honors

27 November 2012

MKA’s athletics continue to capture top honors on the field and in the hearts of the community.

Earlier in the season, the Girls' Volleyball Team captured the SEC Liberty Division Championship and Girls’ Tennis won the Non-Public B State Championship.  More recently, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team captured their first ever Super Essex Conference Liberty Division Championship and the Varsity Field Hockey Team clinched the New Jersey Prep B State Championship and later the NJSIAA Group 1 North 1 State Sectional Championship.

In the last few days, senior Will Dudek secured the individual championship at the NJ Prep B Cross Country Championship and the Boys’ Cross Country Team finished 3rd at the NJSIAA Non-Public B Cross Country Championships, qualifying for the “Meet of Champions” for the first time in nine years.

And finally, congratulations to Jordan Raper (Head Coach) and the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team who captured the NJSIAA Non-Public B State Championship with a 2-0 win over Gill St. Bernard’s. This is the 2nd consecutive state title for the Boys’ Soccer Team and 3rd state title since 2006. This honor accompanies the team’s recent Super Essex Conference American Division League Championship and Sectional Championship.

Director of Athletics, Todd Smith, shared his thoughts on an incredible group of MKA athletes. “ We have just so much to be proud of - how our kids respond to the challenges before them, how they overcome adversity when their backs are against the wall, and how they represent this great school with pride and dignity.”
