MKA's Encore Weekend Production to Open September 19

A group of MKA Upper School thespians were hard at work over the summer to prepare for Encore Weekend 2014, an annual event that has opened the theatrical calendar at MKA for the past nine years. This year's production, Student Playwright's Showcase, features short plays written by students in the last year's inaugural Playwriting Class.

Directed by faculty member J.C. Svec and senior Krissy Bylancik, the cast of 11 features seniors Elizabeth Bowman, Audrey Lane and Sam Cleverley, juniors Emma Asher, Kimmi Kerner, Rachel Sobel and Ross Turkington, sophomores Will Higgins and Evan Hyryshko and freshmen Jolie Curran and Evelyn Salehi. Crew members are seniors Thea MacRae, Sam Wildstein and Matt Yacavone, junior Sam Sobel and freshman Paul Korfage.

Performances are at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20 in the Upper School Deetjen Theatre, 6 Lloyd Road, Montclair. For ticket reservations, contact J. C.
