MKA's Richards Continues to be a Thought-Leader in Educational Technology

22 April 2013

Reshan Richards, MKA’s Director of Educational Technology, continues to make a name for himself in the field of educational technology, having recently received two notable honors.

Earlier this month, Richards was selected for the prestigious Apple Distinguished Educator Program. The ADE Program began in 1994, when Apple first recognized K-12 and higher education pioneers who were using Apple products to transform teaching and learning in powerful ways. Today, Apple describes their Distinguished Educators as “The most innovative educators in the world - part of a global community of over 2,000 education leaders recognized for doing amazing things with Apple technology in and out of the classroom. They explore new ideas, seek new paths, and embrace new opportunities. That includes working with each other — and with Apple — to bring the freshest, most innovative ideas to students everywhere.” Click here for more.

Richards will also be a guest speaker at TEDxNYED on Saturday, April 27th in Brooklyn, NY. TEDxNYED is a New York City-based TEDx event focused on education with the theme of Inside-Outside, a discussion about education from both inside and outside school classrooms. Independently organized by local educators, TEDxNYED features live speakers and TED Talk videos to spark discussion and connections through the sharing of insights and inspiring conversations about the future of education. In addition to his role at MKA, Richards created the Explain Everything app for iPad and is engaged in research to uncover how emerging technologies can be used to capture and mediate discourse that data-driven approaches are not capable of measuring.  He is a doctoral researcher at Teachers College, Columbia University and the founder of Constructivist Toolkit, LLC, a company that started as a blog but now is responsible for a variety of Ed Tech projects including Explain Everything.
